Yes today was a great day.

This house is a very old house in Georgia, and a very special family lives in it. I have been thinking of what I could find to give to this family that they don't have...oh I could make and give some jewelry (to the wife and daughter) but what could I give to the husband? I was looking thru some old photos of when I last visited their home, and this was amongst them. So, yesterday I started on what I hoped would be a very good likeness of their lovely home. Let's see if this very special person realized it's her home!!!

Blessings to all!

What a beautiful day this is

Even though the sun hasn't been out much today it's still beautiful...sometimes an overcast day allows you to see things you don't when it's bright and sunny! We (hubby and I) walked around the yard looking for any evidence that Spring isn't far away. There has been a sighting in the perennial gardens, but today we pulled back some leaves, and found dozens of daffodils hidding there...they were up outta the ground about 2 inches!! How lovely they will be when they start blooming. Then as we walked I noticed something green over by both wagonwheels at the end of the drive. Yep, more green peeking up at us. That's where my beautiful white Clamatis and some irises grow each year. I thought about taking my camera, but Dewey was anxious to get going so I thought it would be better to get pictures when the sun is out anyway. As we walking around the perimeter of the front yard Dewey decided to go back for the saw...there was a hug tree down so today was the day for it to be cut into firewood for someone hehehhe!! He looked at me, and was about to say something when I said, "why don't we cut slabs off that tree so I can paint on them" funny thing that's what he was about to say!! I got a dozen good specimens 14 to 16 inches in diameter and 2 inches thick. We've treated for bugs, and will now let them dry. I'll sand them then paint something on them, and varnish them....I was thinking they would look great in the flowerbeds as stepping stones..but he seems to think someone might want them for their homes...meaning we could sell them!!!
Back in the house I went to my studio to work on a very special painting...it's for someone very dear to me, and want it to be a nice surprise!! It's more than half finished so I'll be posting it in a day or two.
What are the things you like doing for those in your life who you care so much about?? Do you make them something then give it outta the blue?? I love doing that...or sending something I think that person might like. I've seen the generosity in those I've meet here in blogland, and in all the Ning Networks I belong to. Just think how much it would mean to do something special for someone you don't know. I can tell you that's what really makes me happy...but it's become a bit difficult to do right now with the economy the was it is....We can always give of ourselves tho can't we?? Going to a nursing home to sit with someone in need of company, and perhap read. I loved going and fixing elderly ladies hair when I was younger, but I could still do that. There are numerous things we can get involved with that not only will help someone else, but make you feel good as well....
Please have a blessed week knowing you are truly loved!!!

Hope you are having a blessed day

Today it's sunshine and warmth unlike yesterday which was cloudy and raining. We had some really warm days off and on the past couple weeks, but today promises to be the warmest!! It's going up to 70 plus a reminder what we have to look forward to in about 2 mos...weeeeee!!! I'm definately not a winter person although I do love seeing the snow!!! My husband raked the two perennial gardens the other day getting it ready for those lovely little sprouts to spring up!!! At the end of summer I planted several more perennials so the gardens should be nice and full this year! This is one of Gods wonderful blessings to us don't you think?? He gives us so much beauty to enjoy...the birds singing in the morning, the butterflies flittering around all the sweet smelling flowers, and of course we have many butterfly bushes for them and the hummers. Then there's the new green grass, and oh yes, the trees all putting on their Spring dressings...first the blooms..apple and cherry blossoms are my favorite, and of course the bees love them too. Can't believe I saw my first 2 honey bees just 2 or 3 days ago. My hope is that we have a great harvest of vegetables this year...my sister had her husband make her some raised beds a couple years back that produced more than enough for their family and members of their Church. Now that's what I hope to do this year. Share with neighbors, friends and family because that's doing what our heart tells us to do. God made us to be here for others wouldn't you agree? I feel that's why so many of us find it easy to share what we have...it's just part of who we are. My husband made me 3 raised beds last year, but it didn't produce much because we didn't give them enough nutrition I think...I'm gonna post that beautiful sunflower that grew outta the pile of horse manure last year...it's a remember that God allows growth in all things, and actually expects it. We are putting the beds inside the back fence where they will get better sun, water and more attention from me!! Yes, I admit I didn't tend my garden like I should have...and see what happened, we didn't have a good harvest!!! I hear the whisper of God telling me to give of myself helping those around me even if it's just to listen...perhaps to give a hug, or a few hours of my time!! That doesn't cost a thing but can be so helpful for others. Ok I'm rambling and will stop here, but please know that each of us can do so many things to make life better for those around us...I plan to do more, will you??
love you all, and so does God!! Course you knew that didn't you???

My special day!!

I just had to share this darling little picture one of Dewey's Trooper friends sent today!!! Today, yep it is my 66th Birthday and I've been truly blessed with calls from my dear siblings and my children. Cards are good, but hearing from those you love is so much better don't you think? I woke to my hubby wishing me a Happy Birthday, and the calls started coming in! I beat my twin bro with a call first after all Iam the oldest...by 5 mins. lol!!! It's been a really great day, and I wanted to thank everyone on the net for their well wishes too. Blessings,

Accepting a loss

My heart has been heavy since Mary called to tell me that our niece ended her life that day. I couldn't catch my breath then the tears flowed between us washing up so many memories of times we spent with her. Most of mine are of her as a child. That precious sweet, and unique smile that warmed you from head to toe the minute she saw you. She was quiet, and sensitive, but could belt out a laugh to top them all. She was almost a carbon copy of her mom in looks!
She'd been very troubled for some time, feeling the kind of pain pills couldn't stop. We've wondered over the past few days if there was something we could have done to stop this from happening, and I guess that will always linger! Just knowing she's resting in our Lord's arms, a child of God, feeling only love no pain gives us a sense of peace. Learning to live without her in our lives will be hard, but she will never be forgotten for she remains in all our hearts till we see her again.
Love you dear Dawnie
